![]() The story continues as Grealy suffers from the students and people in the school and how she superbly overcomes all of this and understands the true meaning of beauty and self-love. ![]() ![]() When she grows up, she undergoes a series of plastic surgeries that fix her jaw. Having caring parents, Grealy was bought a horse from which she fell completely in love and learned so much. She had to remove half of her jaw, which, as a child, made her a target for all types of bullying and harassment. Luckily enough, she was able to cure it, but it required surgery that changed her life. Grealy was diagnosed with a very rare type of cancer when she was 9, cancer that had an extremely low rate of survival. The memoir tells the story of Grealy and her tough childhood. Grealy was an Irish-American author and poet who won many awards for her poetry and autobiography.
